2 x 6.3 meter dolphin speed boats powered by brand new 40hp yamaha motor and brand new 25hp mariner . For fast transfers to waves outside the bay of plenty zone. All boats are equipped with water proof hand held vhf radios which keeps us in constant contact with the lodge. The 40 yamaha gets you to treasure in 40 min flat or mainland to lodge in 1.5hrs.
The main advantage of staying in a land based camp is radio contact between the speed boats and home base, this means we can keep abreast of conditions as they change throughout the day. E.G. "If speed boat is out at treasure island and conditions turn for the better back in the bay, we'll be informed by the lodge and be back there in 40min." In comparison charter boats take 1.5 to 2hrs to travel between the main locations and often don't arrive in the bay until 10am, leaving you all morning to surf alone.
