Lodge and Status of Banyak Islands

In 1996 the protection status of the Banyak Islands was upgraded from Wildlife Reserve to Protected Nature Tourism Park. The World Conservation Union recognises the importance of tourism as the worlds major civil industry. They therefore believe that only tourism that is respectful of the environment and the well being of the people should be encouraged and promoted.

Our lodge consists of two large natural wooden buildings constructed of all local materials, thus preserving the island style vibe. One building is your sleeping quarters and surf prep area. All bags and boards are stored in and around the spacious deck where everyone gathers to check the surf in the morning. The main lodge and adjoining terrace are where the most of the beers and barrel stories go down. It consists of a kitchen, large dining + buffet tables, lounges + tv area, and sunset party terrace. The floor plan and seating offers plenty of room to sprawl out, eat, play cards, and relax away from the stress of working life.

• The 8x8 meter restaurant and entertainment facility adjoining the lodge is the main hang out area
• A 4x4 meter party terrace over looking the bay is a perfect spot to have a beerand watch the sunset
  
• Eclectic Asian and western fusion dishes are prepared by our chef check menu
• Reef / Beef BBQ's, Sushi using local seafood from the bay, and export quality steaks are our specialty
• Lunch will be served on the speed boat for day trips to Treasure Island

Medical Emergencies

• Recent high profile surfing accidents in Indonesia combined with insurance companies lack lustre response time have prompted us to implement our own evacuation plan from the Lodge. We won't wait for confirmation from insurance companies to evacuate criticaly injured guests, decision and action needs to be made quickly in these circumstances and it's best to get you to the local hospital on the mainland at least. Unlike any where else in the Sumatran chain of islands the Banyaks are only 33 nautical miles from the Sumatran mainland which means we can get you to the well equipped Singkil general hospital in short time. The hospitals strategic position next to the Singkil airport also means evacuation time to singapore and home is reduced dramaticaly.
